The human experience is becoming more hallucinatory
    #11371052 - 11/02/09 07:08 PM (7 years, 11 months ago)

As technology becomes more of a mirror of the human imagination, cultural experience becomes more and more hallucinatory.  This is only my subjective observation of course but this is how i feel.

We now have scientist robots capable of designing robots better than a human.  We have computers that are better than humans at chess.  Scientist are becoming replaced by "robot" scientists.  Technology is becoming better than the human mind at creating more efficient better technology via computer models.  However this level of intelligence among non-humans is something only people have been dreaming about.  The intelligence is valid, but its not real.  Its not real in the sense its different than biological intelligence.  We call it artificial intelligence.  It's not biological.  Soon we will be able to replicate reality via technology that is non distinguishable from the one outside your front door.  Its like the collective consciousness of man is building to a time where you choose which hallucination you want to become.  You can be what ever you want.  You want to be tiger woods, here is this program.  You want to be the president of the united states, here is this program.  It is already happening, only in its early stages.  We are just now starting to climb the asymptotic curve of technological and information transfer peaks.

I feel like the human experience is going to transcend normal reality soon.  The human experience will become purely mental.  And you will literally become your imagination.

I seriously doubt that.

The body is all important to the mind.

When we figure out (or technology can figure out) computer-neural interfacing it won't be that hard.

The research has been underway for decades.

This was back in 99'

Quote:

In 1999, researchers led by Yang Dan at University of California, Berkeley decoded neuronal firings to reproduce images seen by cats. The team used an array of electrodes embedded in the thalamus (which integrates all of the brain’s sensory input) of sharp-eyed cats. Researchers targeted 177 brain cells in the thalamus lateral geniculate nucleus area, which decodes signals from the retina. The cats were shown eight short movies, and their neuron firings were recorded. Using mathematical filters, the researchers decoded the signals to generate movies of what the cats saw and were able to reconstruct recognizable scenes and moving objects.
