    #11362244 - 11/01/09 11:59 AM (14 years, 5 months ago)

can anyone help identify this mushroom??
cap-brownish tan in the middle, fading to yellowish, knobbed, flattening out/wavy
gills-yellow/tan, seperated
stem-same color as cap, annulus can be seen
growing on manicured lawn, in large groups
late october to november in pacific northwest
still waiting on spore print

there are TONS of these growing, which is why i'm so devoted to identifying them

Looks a bit like Armillaria but maybe Agrocybe praecox is a better guess.

What do they smell like?

What is the texture of the cap surface?

Spore print color?  (when you have it)

Better pics of the underside would help.

Hmm seems a bit dark for Armillaria.  Hard to tell for sure.  Omphalotus illudens is another (remote) possibility. Also looks a little like Pholiota.

Camera phones suck for mycology porque no macro mode, see if you can obtain a digital camera.

Armillaria usually has a more convex cap, like that of a chanterrelle. i think its agrocybe as alan sugggested.

Nah, might also be a pholiota, some are toxic. Even if it is an Agrocybe, most of them don't taste good.

Could be, I'm leaning towards Pholiota.
