Is my SGFC okay with half side perlite? Pictures.
    #11370577 - 11/02/09 06:13 PM (8 years, 1 month ago)

I have 105 QT/99 L container.
As you can see in the picture, only half side is filled with perlite, the other half side I put a humidifier in there.
Yea I know digital hygrometers are crap but I just throw one in to see what's up, I got analog hygrometer in there too.
I'm doing 5 cakes, I got 3 rolled in dry verm and the other 2 I didn't, just wanna see how things go, and I will soon going to put another 6 cakes in there, will it be okay? Right now the perlite level is about 2 inches high, should I add more perlite?
Any input would be great, thanks.

Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles.

cool.

say, I got that big of a container, Is it still necessary to drill 1/4" hole every 2 inches all the way around?
I mean it's a big container, FAE shouldn't be of a problem with fewer holes

There is absolutely no reason to have a humidifier in there and a very big reason not to.  The amount of moisture that leaves the humidifier can't be absorbed in such a small volume of air, so it makes it 'rain'.  This will saturate your cakes and ruin them.  Just use perlite and you'll have upper 90% humidity.

I wasn't aware that there was such thing as "too much" humidity.
