most certainly, going to sleep is drawing the mind inwards....

'meditation' is doing the same, but consciously

No.  Meditation involves training of the mind.  Sleep is just a natural bodily function that requires no practice at all.  Meditation training enables one to control one's thoughts, emotions, and awareness in a way that no amount of sleep will ever do.  Interestingly, experienced meditators often develop the ability to maintain a witnessing awareness even during deep, dreamless sleep.

No idea. I suggest if you really want to know then find out what meditation and sleeping are and then compare the two... :ohwell:

There was a movie in the eighties where they could record other people's experiences. You could play them back and experience what other people do. That would be keen.

Through that method alone the Icelandic sage reached enlightenment.

meditating was most likely started because one had slept and had a dream

What evidence do you base that on?

Some people are old and confused, they think this is a scientific forum.

Yes but all thoughts are not of equal value. Go over to OTD and you will see what I mean. You said "most likely", had you said "IMO" you could slide. But I love to challenge what I consider nonsense. Very few women who have come here have stayed and almost all of them have put me on ignore sooner or later. The Icelander is a head hunter. Unless you got class.
