Pre-employment drug screens are unreasonable practices. Shame on the companies that enforce them.

What? We were supposed to tell you how sorry we were? Your or my own current thoughts aren't going to instantaneously change your employers look at cannabis as an illegal substance. You DID fuck up because now you don't have a job. It's tough love. Next time don't do it half-assed and actually stop smoking and use jwh-018 instead.

they best way to pass it is to just stop doing drugs
i was told i might have to take a piss test for my internship (some places don't require it, but i was sure i would have to)
so i stopped smoking for a couple weeks and even bought stuff to help me clean out my system throughout the month
then i find out the place i'm going to doesn't require it
now i get to go on internship and i can smoke buds all day

it pays off

Im an IT professional. It was a contract job to fix up the servers/computers, get the backups working again, fix a SQL server, and a McAfee EPo server, etc, etc..
Apparently the last admin wasnt much of an admin.

What was the focus of the business?

With many businesses that deal with heavy equipment, companies take on take on a larger liability through their employees.  Due to the structure of most companies' policy and procedure manuals, it is discriimination to allow drug testing of some employees and not others.  While I know working in IT doesn't involve heavy equipment, I'm curious as to what the purpose of this business is?

I've heard that preemployment drug screens have more to do with employers getting a break on their insurance bill than work performance.

insurance companies charge less for some industries if they drug test. to me it seems beyond common sense that hiring a pot head is much better than hiring an alcoholic. and people who own businesses arent stupid, i'm sure they know that too.
