I found a bunch yesterday in southern Oregon.  I boiled them for 10 minutes and then pickled them!  First time I've tried this.  They're popping like crazy.

Yup, 'tis the season! They just started coming out about a week ago up in Eugene.

Also keep an eye out when you're just driving around town or whatever. I see them growing in yards and parking lots... they seem to like places where there's pine trees (or even some low coniferous evergreen shrubs) planted in barkdust .

I've never had much luck looking in forests with a lot of pine trees (note that they associate with other trees, including deciduous ones such as oak and birch). I've found most of mine in urban/suburban areas.

Maybe they don't do as well with the harder pack of earth in forests? Seems like they grow well through spongier soil.

Nobody can help you with your situation.  Do some research on amanitas and alot of your questions will be answered.  We've all given you great advice as to where to find them, it's all on you now.  Maybe you should try to find somebody in your area that knows a little about mushroom hunting to give you somes clues as to where to find them in your area.  They are in season and they are around, keep looking, relax, don't complain about how long you have to look.  If you can't walk around much, oh well.  Maybe you can have somebody drive you around and you can look from the car.

In northwestern oregon (portland-metro area) the season ends around the end of November. As long as you're west of the cascades, it's probably not too different in southern oregon.

You can only look from precisely 8:32 am until 10:56 am.  The rest of the time they go underground to hibernate.

Just keep your eyes peeled for that distinctive bright red-orange around ground level.
