Hello all!

Woke up and checked on things, and what had come out to say "O hai thar!"??  My very first pins!  Say hello to my little friend!  :laugh:





All 5 TC cakes have some pins, but the Huatlua cakes have yet to show some.  Sure it won't be long though.  That makes it roughly 6 and a half days post dunk&roll from placement into the FC to pins.  I'll post some good pin porn for y'all as they grow!

Thanks again for all your help everyone.  It went well being the very first time trying this.  As a good friend of mine would say... "I love it when a plan comes together!"

Upon closer inspection there's a whole boatload of pins popping out of these cakes.  Really tiny at the moment but hopefully they'll be noticeably larger and pic-worthy tonight so I can entertain y'all!  :wink:

Nice job. I just found out my first monotub GOT FUCKED IN THE ASS BY TRICH. I was so mad i threw the sub off my balcony and hit a bunch of little kids that were trick or treating last night. It helped

More pins have popped up throughout the day, though none have really started getting bigger for the most part.  It does seem now that moisture and humidity is being sucked up much more quickly in the FC, as the RH drops below 95 about 2 to 3 hours after misting and the walls of the FC dry up in that timeframe as well.  Is this normal?  Are pinning cakes much thirstier than before pinning?  Before today it seemed like moisture and humidity lingered considerably longer.

They'll probably end up being misted 5 or 6 times before the end of the day today.  I just hope they do okay during sleepy-time and work-time tomorrow when they can't be misted.

condensation does not equal high humidity.
5 or 6 mistings might be a little excessive. it is possible to get them too wet. causing aborts and/or watered down fruits.

Actually I'm talking about the water that is directly sprayed onto the walls of the FC with each misting, as opposed to condensation.  The water ends up evaporating in around 3 hours or so, and the RH drops below 95% as well.  Before today the humidity and water droplets stayed almost all day long, so I'm wondering if the cakes and pins are soaking up the humidity/water faster since nothing else really changed with the setup.

Thoughts?  Thanks!

You dont want any standing water inside your fc, that includes little standing pools where the clamps for the tops are or droplets all over the sides. Any standing water is going to lower your total RH. Listen to prismism even if he did call me an asshole, your going to waterlogg your cakes. Pick them up and note how heavy they feel, how does it compare to when you first birthed them? Once pins have set and the mush is growing misting should be kept to a minimal, once or twice a day just to keep that RH up and to make sure your cakes arent drying out which shouldnt be a problem if you keep your RH up. And to prism those kids deserved it they were all dressed up as characters from twilight and I only hit two of them directly the others it just scared really bad. :thumbup:

Agreed it was a moment of weakness in rage probobly not the best tactical decisions. However in my defense the children were alone without their parents so theyre pretty helpless, (had alot to do with targetting them once the rage hit) and seriously these kids are dumbasses, they take turns hitting eachother on the head with wiffle bats while running circles around one kid that shovels dirt in his mouth by the handful. Im not too worried, the ones I didnt hit just ran away screaming and the ones that were hit just fell on the grounding and starting crying like babies. Overall I would still say it was worth it since it made me feel so much better.
