what are these? are they liberty caps?

Habitat:
i live in the pacific north west and they grow on south facing hills of moist grasslands near a stream. I found them growing on the grass.

Gills:
they are whitish to light brown.

Stem:
the lengths of the stems range from being the size of a finger nail to the average size of someone's thumb.

Cap:
the average cap size ranges from the width of a pencil to the size of a penny.

Spore print color:
as far as i know the color of the spore print is a whitish color.

Bruising:
i have not noticed any bruising of the mushrooms.

It looks to be a Mycena species!

I would preserve some specimens because I study mycology and would probably want to examine them with my microscope!
They are not edible or active!
