Monotub taking a longgg time.(pinning now w/ pics)
    #11357876 - 10/31/09 02:22 PM (14 years, 4 months ago)

So my strain is B +.  Spawned to coir/coffee/verm/gypsum from WBS.

I introduced this tub (which colonized very quickly) to fruiting conditions about 14 days ago.  On day 7 I got a little pin but none else in site.  Now there are VERY VERY tiny pins poking up but it seems to be going so slowly, and I dont want my sub to dry out.  Here are some pics.

Pins.

Here is the one that pinned 7 days ago, can anyone diagnose my tub by looking at this one pin?

Side notes: Polyfil is loose but humidity is up.  It gets 12x12 light and 2 fans a day, once day 12 hit I started misting once a day because it looked like it was drying out a bit.  I have a fan running on the outside of the closet but there are slits in the closet that the air can get through for circulation.

Thanks guys.  -eZ

yeah i fucking hate the waiting game, but ill agree, it looks a lot better than it did 7 days ago. I have a huge blue meanie tub fully colonized now but I'm just gonna let it knot up on its own and maybe start pinning before i put it in fruiting conditions.

Actually the Blue Meanie I am working with colonized faster than any other strain I've ever tried.

The FAE seems to be good, I dont know how you measure something like that.  I have 6 holes with loose polyfil.

its colonizes fast but after that it takes a grip to pin and to fruit. almost two weeks for me. but the flushes were big. so its worth the wait

I have a fan running 24/7 and I fan the tub twice a day.  Too much FAE?

14 days in fruiting conditions with 1 thin pin is not "looking friggin good."  How long was the spawn run before switching to fruiting conditions?

I'm guessing your tub is "friggin" dry.

i appreciate the encouragement haha, but mycology is all about honest.

it took 7 days to fully colonize my wbs jars which was great time.  it took about 7 or 8 days for 24 qts of coir/coffee/verm/gypsum to colonize fully, and then i introduced it to fruiting conditions almost 14 days ago with polyfil and 12x12 light with a fan 2 times a day on average.

I left the polyfil out for like 8 hours to get the humidity down a bit, but it got all the way down to 60 percent.  may have dried it out a bit.  but I still see condensation on the walls which is good news.

the "one long skinny pin" was just an early bloomer im guessing, because now i am seeing an even pinset taking place.  maybe that guy pinned before i even introduced the tub to fruiting conditions.

hm?

Fucking mushrooms are tall and skinny, what the fuck am I doing wrong?  Maybe my lights suck.  I put it out into my room on the floor so it could get some REAL sunlight for a day, and I come back to see nothing but skinniness still.  I'm so fed up with this.
