mushroom for blurry pic experts

the stem was thick and the mushroom was too(like not breaking easy)
the cap was rely smooth almost velvety or something

white stem and gills

i found it drunk last night and the macro is broken on my camera

im gonna guess Russula species.

Was it growing off the ground? What color is the cap?

the cap was almost black dark brown , and yes it was either growing from the ground or buried wood i couldnt see, also i could pull the whole thing out, the very bottom of the steam would break at ground level
