so tell me if this sounds good .. 1pound from mad season turned into mycelium, dunked for 24hours, broken up up into substrate of coffee/coir/verm in a clean bucket with holes on each side filled with polyfit, and pexi glass glued to top  of bucket.,..is that okay

plexi-glass glued?...

a clear shower cap is great for the top of a monobucket, you can get a pack of 15 at walmart, although I can't guarantee every walmart has it I'm sure a pharmacy or something like will carry clear shower caps

they conform to the top of the bucket, and also allowed for light to enter. when its harvest time simply take your shower cap off and pick your mushies

and although I love monotubs I definitely do a monobucket from time to time when I have too small an amount of spawn for a bucket

I'll get you a link to ottos thread, its a great little write up on monobuckets

edit: seems noobie got to it first ^^

I'll have pics up of one I have going in a few days...the pinset looks spectacular

Sounds good and buckets work fine.

But why glue plexi glass on the top of the bucket?

Even though your sub is in a bucket and not a FC you'll still want to mist and fan for FAE. :imo:

Don't be nervous about it but just don't soak it.

Even after the dunk you'll still want to occasionally mist IF it starts to look dry. Mushrooms need water and a high RH to thrive. Since you're using a bucket you may not need to mist as often.

Plexi is incredibly hard to work with, honestly. If you had access to a wire EDM or similar, it would be much easier to work with, but given most peoples access to hand tools, squares are doable.

The tubs I used in my ghetto tek (see sig) hold about 14 qts @ 4" depth. As just a tub w/ window, they're well under $5 each ($4 a tub, $10 for enough plexi to do 20 windows), with all the hardware, they run about $25-$30 ea.($10 for enough plexi for 4, $7 lamp kit, $10 fan, $3-5 for a DC converter that will run 4, $5 CFL, plus a few bux in misc materials).

Your bucket is gonna run $5-7 ea, w/ a 10" diam, they will hold about 5.5 qts @ 4" sub depth.

14 qts @ $5 = $0.70/qt
5.5 qts @ $5 = $1.10/qt

Also, I think 5 gal buckets are a bit on the tall side, although they are more stack-able. I just got shelving, and have plenty nuff room for multiple tubs.
