Trichoderma everywhere?
    #11354513 - 10/30/09 10:47 PM (7 years, 11 months ago)

I know breathing trichoderma and some mold spore like that is harmful, but what I don't get is that if you gotta sterilize the jars before inoculate spores, does that mean the trichoderma and other mold spore is already around you and that you're breathing it into your lungs?
Isn't that harmful?

Sure they are floating around in small amounts.  Say you inhale five spores, you will be fine, whereas those same five spores land on some grain, they germinate, and turn into noticeable mold.
Black mold spores are really bad to inhale

well, spores themselves are pretty harmless, considering they are flying around EVERYWHERE.  It is when they germinate and create mold is when they become dangerous.

What about the spore comes from the mold?
I took out a jar to which I thought was bruised mycelium but it's actually contam because after I touched it the powdery like spore falling off, will it hurt me? I did it last night, and today I got a sore throat.

Trich is completely harmless to humans, unless you're immuno-compromised.

Late stage AIDS patients have been found with trich growing in their lungs.

dude you are fine we went over this in the cultivation forum
certain molds are harmful to your health
but trich is not one of them you are being paranoid
and i doubt your sore throat has anything to do with the spores
if you see ANY kind of mold in your jars PC them for 90 minuets
then toss whatever was in the jars out

Quit hanging out with all the H1N1 patients and that sore throat will clear right up.

Ok, cool, guess I'm just being paranoid.

Say, I took that jar with that green mold out and I think the spores scattered in the air, what's the best way to kill it in the air, can I spray the room with lysol?

Lysol must never ever be sprayed in the air, ever. That's dangerous.

No way?  I do that all the time. :S

I don't stick around afterwards though.

Lysol is a surface disinfectant. You would need to spray Oust in the air - not that it would do much against mold, though.
