Simple question regarding B+ strain on WBS.

Lets play pretend, and say that I inoculated two WBS jars with a B+ syringe. The jars were prepared properly, and have been incubating in the dark at a temperature of 84 degrees for the last 7 days, yet they show no signs of growth. If this were to happen, should I be worried that these jars have failed, or is the B+ strain just a slow starter?

I'm no expert but there should probably be some sign of life after 7 days.
Did you let the jars cool?
Do you have a hole and filter in the top of the jar for some air/gas exchage?
Maybe drop the temp to 80 degrees?

84 is fine, you shoulda seen something by now, but if no contams i would let em go a few more days anyway just to be sure, if you pushing 2 weeks w/o growth you might wana worry.

I had made 3 jars of WBS, 2 took off like lightning, the other in a different type of jar, has done SFA after 3 weeks, little bits here and there. dont ask what happened all the WBS was prepared from the same batch.

WBS can be funny sometimes. If the water content is too high then that can slow things down drastically. Be patient...

B+ also can be funny at times. I have 6 jars of that and none show jack and it's been 3 weeks, but the other two strains I did at the same time (and same substrate mixture, which was too wet) are pretty much as done as they are going to be (again, too wet, so they went but won't make it to 100% - but at least they did something!).
You could, if you have 1cc or so of spores left, try a liquid culture method (karo/honey/malt/whatever) and see if you get germination on that, and then reinnoculate with a live mycelium syringe to "kick them in the ass" and get them going. At least you'd be waiting on two different things then and maybe it won't drive you nuts as much (I know I would go crazy if I wasn't trying ten different things at once).

I have inoculated 1 syringe of B+ in 8 jars. today is the 10th day and there are 4 jars with dime sized- half dollar sized growth. the first sign was after 5 days. i still have 4 jars to go, so not having any growth in just 2 jars after 8 days isn't that big of a deal in my eyes.
this strain is VERY forgiving. the only thing it cant handle is too much heat.. like did you sue a pressure cooker? if so, did you wait at least 24 hours before opening it. the only way you would show NO GROWTH is if A. it got too hot B. the spores didn't make it into the jars C. you arn't keeping it at 75-82 degrees in a dark place REMEMBER: HEAT KILLS SPORES, COLD STUNTS THEIR GROWTH TILL IT REACHES THE RIGHT TEMP anything else you could have done wrong would result in contamination.
HOPE THAT HELPS.

Be patient. Some strains are slower than others. If you don't see any growth by 2 weeks. I might be worried.
