Psilocybe Cyanescens - only larger???
    #11351175 - 10/30/09 01:18 PM (8 years, 1 month ago)

i found ones resembling Cyanescens in an environment with trees and lots of broken wood stuff.

The problem is they look just like Cyanescens (waves and all that) with the difference that the average cap is 6-7cm broad!!!!
The gills are double as dense as the regular cyanescens like on this pic http://lestroisfreresjgb.unblog.fr/files/2009/08/psilocybebleutpsilocybecyanescens5.jpg

The lines on top at the edge of the cap are mostly not there on mine and on a few they are barely visible. Mine have been picked in a fairly dry condition tho.

The stem is white at some points but mainly brown/dirty.

From that discription, can it even by a cyanescens?

Yes, that's a very mature Cyanescen.
Just because it's larger (or smaller in some cases) than you think doesn't automatically eliminate it from being a possibility.

The stems look pretty white to me, and I imagine bruise extremely blue. Nice find.

Whoops, I thought that pic you posted WAS the Cyanescen you found. There's no way I can positively ID the mushroom you found without a pic.
Also, take a spore print

If the Stem is mostly Brown/Dirty colored its probably not a Cyanescen.

sounds like it might be a deadly galerina, possibly a gymnopus or tubaria

If they "resemble" Cyanescens then they probably aren't... If they don't bruise blue, don't have mostly white stems, and have twice the gill density of Cyans... then I highly doubt they are Cyans. Post pics to get better responses.

Spore test came out negative. Rrrrusty

But I've found like 2 that are orange in the middle and go yellow towards the edge. The edge is bruised blue now. The caps of those are aprox. 8-10cm. The spore test of them is PURPLE.

Considering the spore print, could i just taste-test 0,5 grams of those? I think I've seen pics of psilos that look similiar to those... Are there deadly ones with purple spores?

They lie mixed with the other ones so they could be affected by the spores of the others. Is that OK?

THANKS

Do not eat anything unless you are 100% sure you know what it is.

Can you post some pictures?

Hypholoma fasciculare is the most common toxic mushroom with purple spores.

Oh well then I couldn't even tell between fasciculare and mine. Thanks.

They'll all go straight into the garbage, then.

yeah i personally have found P. cyanescens that had caps that were wider than my hand. You'd be surprised how big they can get in the right conditions and if people actually let them grow before picking.
