i am going to start my first grow hopefully within the next 2 weeks and i need to know is it better to use glass or plastic cups for inoculation? (i know that glass mason jars with wide mouth are best choice but im hiding this from ppl i live with and i live in a small town and getting them would raise suspicion)

Glass is reusable. Plastic may not be. Ok to start with plastic jars if that's easier or whatever, but then when those wear out, upgrade to glass.

If you are going to use plastic jars, look for the recycling code "5". This means they are autoclavable. And if you wash them with bleach you can use them many times.

must be a very small town if you can't even buy some jars. I mean WTF they have other uses that mycology, what we use them for isn't what there made for. Your paranoid!

Why dont you make a mushrooms soup for your man when he comes home? I think that could be a good way to get him back on the right track

as for the vermiculite he is starting like a plant nursery to make money and he is banned from the only store with gardening dirt crap and i will have to get everything. heh heh heh and as for fruiting chamber im thing small as terms of size of cake so i can get my mom to buy me a few storage containers from $ store so im go in that department.

I agree with everyone else. If you can't be completely open with your guy, move on. It will cause you nothing but trouble, especially concerning substances.
As for jars, I dunno if you are crafty at all, but buy them now, use them as Halloween luminarias (put small candles in them. It's decorative) and once the holiday is over... "wow! empty jars! Whatever will I do with them?" Poor man's decoration now = jars for your hobby later.
