Help please

I have more options than most in my situation so i guess its not as bad as i think it is. But here's the deal, living at home, age 23, just lost my job making 350 a week. Parents said they will put me through a 'tech' school. So they average one or two years, gotta have a part timer while in school.
My question to you is do you know of any programs that are good for people with basic computer skills or any other good trades to learn. I dont wanna go through school for a year or two and end up being fucked.

Ive heard the "computer feild" is very competative and requires more than just four years of school to make decent money.

now i am feeling more negative about my situation from doing a little backround on the tech schools. Most people are saying that it is a scam for your money and that alot of people will get the degree and still end up working in a mall somewhere. Not cool, i dunno what im gonna do. My buddy is working for southwest airlines and has a career path set up with them, maybe that is what I should do and just skip the bullshit. Not really sure....

You should look into EMT/paramedic. My buddy went to a trade school for 1 year, did his medic or whatever the program makes you do, and now he is a 20 year old making 17.50 an hour full time, and he already took his fire academy, so all he needs is to keep applying to stations.
I also have another friend who did an accelerated EMT course. He went for 9 weeks, it cost I THINK $700. And after that, it's an almost guaranteed job making $10/hour. And after that, you can go to paramedic part time while bringing in a steady income. Into which you will be making 15-20/hour depending on location.

Why not go back to school for it if its what you want to do? Move up to higher paying positions...

man think of the something you love to do, and is feasible as a career. I'm not talking about you being a pro foot ball player get it. If you dont like what your doing you'll never be truly happy.
Go to school. A real college and get your degree. you will not regret it. the older you get the harder it will be to go back to school. This isn't true for everyone BUT MOST certainly for alot of people.
sure you could start working and maybe 5 or 6 years down the road you'd be making 40 or 50k, but that's not shit you can make 120k after school and alittle experience. once you find the right gig you'll be sitting nicely.

'Tech' schools are crap, usually. Look for trade schools/apprenticeships. Thats my advice if you want to be marketable and have job security. A liberal degree from a university is more for personal fulfillment then marketability, usually.
