The conditions are in a room with temps that average 72-77 degrees, good ventilation and has a fan on it 24 hours a day, I only water when the soil is dry.

I fertilize a small amount every month, the whole room is filled with just about all cacti, with the exception of some black pearl peppers, N. tabacum kept in small pots to kill any bugs (works incredibly), and a few Coleus im testing out (my breeding project.)

MycoHunter:

I've never seen anyone successfully grow cacti under such weak fluoros. Can you take a pic of your setup sometime?

Sure, the object is to keep the cacti as close to the bulbs as possible.

Im looking to upgrade to some different type of lighting but not any type of HID, any suggestions would be awesome.

Ive posted this pic before showing the difference in girth on these two pups, the smaller one being under fluorescent lighting, the larger in full sun, also notice the color difference.

As you can see there is a difference, but not too bad.  You can cut the pups off then root them, once they are rooted save them till next spring and put them outdoors until they get some girth on them.

I should add that not all of these are under fluorescent lighting all the time, when the spring comes they go outside, I only keep a few inside for the calming effect they bring me, I love growing things.

But the pups I have been posting here recently are all from fluorescent lighting indoors.
