From what I can gather, all the OP was saying is that the redundancy in the music/art forum is pretty sad. "Who's better, shpongle or pink floyd?" "Do you guys like TOOL?" "Check out my tapestries", etc.

Doesn't seem like the intent was to say that "new" music is better than "old" music (the 60s aren't even as good as the 30s anyway!)

All I simply want is for the OP to enlighten us with what music we may be missing out on. I think it's a little unfair to make a post bashing the entire forms taste in music and in that post not maybe explain what their opinion of good music is or give an example.

It may be a song from 11 years ago, but they all pretty much sound the same.

I think you should go out and search for new music yourself.

Google "best albums of 2008 + ________(genre name)" and you'll get started.
