Hmmm, so when does criticism come in to play?

I think he may be making too much of translation issues. Isn't it assumed that most languages have their unique niches? Maybe his focus on the barrenness of certain languages may have more to do with his not actually thinking in these languages (as he says), rather than experiencing a corruption in them. Naturally, (like a really peeved RW Emerson), he seems to favor the precedence of a "mother" tongue.

Take for example, our proposition Veritas est adaequatio rei et intellectus. This is not merely the appropriation of "intellect and thing" as it seems (to be). As you said, its a circular reasoning, or a "mathematical informedness", and we should acknowledge the certain precedence of "idea" as it is implied. Explicated in theology or implied in a humanism, essentially it doesn't really matter. "Thinking the world into being" or however you want to manifest the horizon of this appropriation, is easily and often conveniently forgotten.

Isn't Gurdjieff's point a similar appropriation? Convenient - due to him not actually thinking in other languages?
