grind it up.those seeds are pretty tough,so you gotta get crafty finding a way to pulverize em

Guess I'll field this one . . .Well, I used to only find it in whole seed, but ground it up in my coffee grinder. This wasn't the ideal choice because I already use the grinder to encapsulate syrian rue and the fungus. However, I have found a GREAT site which has been mentioned before: www.bobsredmill.com which sells everything from flax seed to brown rice flour!

Hey Supah, I don't know which method your using, but if it's Alien's Tek, he says "not" to grind Quinoa?

Eh, ok.

Well, i found whole quinoa at the Fresh Fields (organic produce store), and bought a pound of it. I ground it up and mixed it in with some brown rice flour and vermiculite and put it in the jars.

so if i wasn't supposed to grind it, oh well...

Ooops! I read a post from Alien (the father of the Quinoa-in-substrate) in the Advanced Cult. section advising against grounding up the seeds. Guess I forgot to wear my glasses the day I first read his substrate recipe because I have been grinding my whole seeds! Tell you what, though, I've had no probs . . .perhaps because my grinder is extremely inefficient and created a 'thick' grind?

Grinding up Quinoa will leave you with Quinoa flour. I have found that it works well 1:1 with BRF with some verm and water added to provide grow space for the mycelium. If you use whole, cook it.
