Yesterday in my backyard.
    #11340682 - 10/28/09 08:14 PM (7 years, 11 months ago)

Heres what I found in the backyard yesterday.

Marasmius sp.

Camarophyllus griseorufescens.

Mycena minirubra.

Amanita nothofagi.

Galerina sp.

Entoloma sp.

Amanita muscaria.

Tricholoma sp.
This is the same specimen in this post after three days!

Even though the main season is over here it's still good to have a look after spells of rain, you never know what you might find!
Enjoy:cool:

Hi Alan, I agree, it is a nice Mycena species, it's very viscid and the stipe is translucent!

I don't think it would be easy to cultivate but it would be an interesting project, the specimen in the image is only about 5mm tall and they are usually a bit smaller, the lamellae are white with a red margin.
I think I'll have to collect some specimens and try to make some micrographs, it could be quite interesting!

I love macro photography because there is so many interesting things out there that are barely visible to the naked eye:smile:

Might be, sometimes with a little mushroom like that if cut up the stem with scissors and drop it on a bunch of plates you get a good culture easy.
Most times it's mess of contaminates. Sure is a pretty mushroom.

Sweet shots man. Especially the ones with critters. Im jealous I have yet to find a wild A. Muscaria, in which parts of the US does it grow?

Thanks Karode!

Thanks for the advice falcon, maybe that technique would work with an antibacterial agar adjusted to the correct pH, it is quite beautiful but so small you have to get down close to the ground to find it!

Nice Amanita shots, inski....They are a symbol to me of the holidays and celebration (even though I'll never eat one again).

Incredible macros, inski.  Adjusting the pH downward with the addition of an antibiotic should increase your chances in the dish.  Alternatively, if you hunt with the Sporulator Jr. 5000 you could make a print right after you picked it.  That's probably unnecessary though due to the close proximity.
