Habitat:
Where does it grow?
this was growing in a patch of well watered/fertilized patch of grass in northern california
Gills:
they are brown view pic for more detail

Stem:
about 2 inch long. thin

Cap:
the size of a nickel and its round

Spore print color:
none yet hoping i dont need to wait for it and it can be identified here

Bruising:
none

I think it's Panaeolus cinctulus. Looks like black spores on the stipe, light gill edges, dark gills.

Panaeolina foenisecii is what he means. I think it's a Panaeolus papilionaceus.

I don't think it's Panaeolus papilionaceus. I can't remember ever finding them in grass, always straight from dung.
I'm thinkin subb. Take a spore print.

the print is starting now...the lines on the straight end of the stem is some of the gills as i pulled the stem off

if it is Panaeolus papilionaceus would it be harmful to consume...i only found one so theres not much to play around with

No. It's definitely a Panaeolus/Panaeolina. None of them are poisonous or in any way harmful. Eating just that one will not have any trippy effect whatsoever either, though.

No. I've eaten them with no problems.

I'm sticking with Panaeolus olivaceus or Panaeolus cinctulus on this one though.

Oh, I don't insist on the paps. I am not very much of a pan expert. Psilocybe are more my cup of tea (in the very true sense of the word).
