Putting casing directly on perlite question
    #11338551 - 10/28/09 01:28 PM (14 years, 4 months ago)

Can I take my casing out of the pan and place on top of the perlite directly?

You can, but why do you want to do this?

I wouldn't. The cakes will tent to get soggy which leads to contams.

What tek did you use? BRF?

He referred to a casing, so i assume its spawn that was cased, in say a pie tin, no cakes involved.

I was thinking he may have confused the terms.

assumptions and corrections don't belong in the same sentence.

don't take the casings out. one major pinning trigger is the water evaporating off the surface of the casing.

the trays are fine on top of the perlite.

i don't know about the humidifier, but i don't think you have to place it inside the terrarium. never used an actual humidifier

o, lol.

that is fine, just watch it for the first few hours. a lot of the humidifiers can tend to saturate things, especially casings.

if your humidity goes above about 95, with the casings in there, put the humidifier on a timer.

i have the best growth with casings when the rh (relative humidity) is at or below 90%
