what do we have here? they were pretty small so i left them where they were, if they are libs, should i wait for them to get bigger or just go and pick them now before a dog tramples all over them??? they are the only ones ive found so far so im nervous about leaving them there (if they are libs)

not libs or active.

I think your gonna need to look in pasture like areas to find libs, not forests.

are you sure not libs? why do you say that? the gills underneath are black.  they are right next to a pasture, on the side of a path leading to a wood.  I searched all over the pasture.

yea they are not libs.

i have found this species before but i forget what its called. Once the caps mature a little more a hole will form at the top of the nipple.

those are some nice reference links, been looking for something like that with thumbnailed views. So many mushroom sites ive seen simply list the names, which is totally useluess to me!

Could it be Psathyrella conopilus? Its amazing how much these ones resemble libs

Psathyrella conopilus is a super common mushroom (I've literally seen thousands this season so far), but the pics you posted don't look like P. conopilus.

i know keep asking that about everything, but I am trying my best to get to a point where I can at least be able to id the edibles correctly

Well, they are nothing to write home about, but they are not poisonous either. No black spored mushrooms are. Generally, I would call them "inedible", because they lack any culinary value whatsoever.
