I've got open water with the bubble stones in my FC. I'm def still a noob,but so far I've gotten really nice flushes from my cakes. No contams.

rooter it seems you have a lot of reading/learning to do
before you start your adventure into mushroom cultivation

learn what perlite is and how it works in this hobby
watch these videos herePF tek 1-4
get yourself familiar with the whole process
then start to cultivate

also here is a tek for you it involves the use of
an air pump like you were talking about
its called a PMP

last but not least, if you have any other questions
please start your own thread
its not fair to the OP(original poster)for you to
ask a bunch of questions in his thread

that just steers everyone away from the original question

When growing mushies I learned that taking shortcuts, or coming up with an idea to try and make it "easier" on me to tend to my FCs (as I do work 60+ hours a week) I just ended up with contams or bulks that wouldn't even fruit. As a new grower, stick to the teks because they do work. There are teks that allow you to lower the amount of times you must mist AND fan, but I'd still recommend it.

Remember that all of us fan our FCs and we all have product. The only way something will contam at that stage is if it was already contamined, but just hidden in the middle, or if your grow area is a completely filthy house (as in dishes all over the place including piled high in the sink).

Keep your house clean, vacuum regularly, use air sanitizers, and opening your FCs 3-4 times a day to fan them won't create a problem.
