Pantie hose for oyster logs?
    #11337082 - 10/28/09 11:13 AM (8 years, 10 months ago)

Wanting to construct some straw logs for oysters and I've seen a lot of people using these tubular plastic bags it looks like. i was wondering if i could stuff all my substrate into a pantie hose?

thought that it would allow the myc to breath a lot and would also be good for dunks in between flushes (if you do that with oysters idk).

your thoughts shroomery community?

Yes, but some people wouldn't want to eat them, and the rest might steal them.

I notice your name.  Do you have that many nylons abandoned by dates ?

More seriously, I don't think they would survive stuffing with straw, and they also don't afford any resistance to moisture loss from  the substrate.

You might sew bags out of Tyvek or something, but I don't know if they would arutoclave to clean them after first use.

Good growing,

like Jef i think the substrate will dry out too quickly, but the idea has merit for small fun projects.

One of these days all the answers will be revealed until then we learn from each other!
