Plain dried skins Vs Cactus tea
    #11336704 - 10/28/09 08:53 AM (7 years, 11 months ago)

I just ordered 180 grams of dried san pedro skins and i decided to test their taste. I decided that I could handle the bitter taste of the cactus, but I want to know what would the benefit of boiling the cactus in water and making tea be?

So why should I make tea over just eating the skins on their own?

I think it reduces the plant material needed to ingest (which may also help with nausea, as cactus is very tough to digest)

For REAL man.... A friend of mine and I shoveled down a whole bunch of the powdered skins one time.... Just sat there with tablespoons and glasses of water... We're throw a tablespoon back and then drink a bunch of water, over and over... It was one of the most horrible things I've ever tasted in my life... OMG, and that texture...

I can't stand the tea. Something about the foaminess and consistency of it just makes me want to hurl before I take more than two sips. Eating the dried skin isn't that bad though - does that make me a freak?

What I do is take the dry skin and grind it up to powder then add a little lemon juice to it and roll it into small balls which I freeze. Then they can just be swallowed like pills with water, pretty much no taste.

A simple alcoholic extraction can be very efficient, and cactus hash can be made easily and taken like pills.

Ive never tried eating the tried bits only the fresh slabs but if it is anything like the fresh then u definetly have to do the tea.  It was a lot easier for me to get the liquid down with little to no problems, then having to chew the cactus and keeping it in my mouth while chewing.  Just pound have the liquid, let it settle a few minutes then pound the rest.  Then sit back and relax.
