they are both unfiltered blowers so no..

a flow hood requires a hepa fillter

:pm: me if you have questions about lasers

Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles.

umm yeah i know that, but i would use it to force the air through the filter. did you think that i thought the air magically went through the filter by itself

If you look at the specs they both max out around 300 CFM, so unless you're planning a really small flow hood and an unusually low-resistance filter, then no these won't work.

Ideally you don't look for a fan and then try to build a flow hood that works with it; ideally you figure out which filter you're going to use (A Hepa Filter two feet wide and a foot high seems to be standard, although I used a 2x2 one...

http://www.filtera-b2b.com/businessfilters/hepa.htm#99.99wood

Once you have your filter you can try to figure out how powerful a blower you need. Given that you want the air to exit at 100 ft Per  minute, then you need a filter that will accomodate whatever that translates to in CFM (for the 2x1 filter, that's 200 CFM) PLUS whatever resistance your filter creates, called the "static pressure". This is measured in a unit that can be translated to CFM. All in all, it's pretty tough to calculate exactly how much pressure (in CFM power) you'll need, so it's best to just do what I did... get a big mother of a blower, and then just dampen it down with extra pre-filters until you get what you need.

300 CFM is probably not enough... maybe double that. You could always rig two of those cheaper units (the first link you sent, for half the price, offered the same power!!) and you'll have the equivalent of a 600 CFM blower, right? You'll have a twin-engine flow hood...
