Tygard???
    #11334799 - 10/27/09 11:05 PM (7 years, 11 months ago)

I bought disposable coveralls made of tygard, and i am wondering if this is the same as tyvek?  it seems thicker than the postal stuff, and more flexible/less papery, but still slippery/plasticy... does anyone know anything about this?
thanks,
DanKnugget

Google says: Try again later.

Do you have a brand name, manufacture, or a pic of the packaging?

C'mon man, throw me a bone.

Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles.

It probably is Tyvek but there are different incarnations of Tyvek.  For example, the Tyvek used in building sub-covering (don't know the phrase) is thicker and is different than that used for Tyvek envelopes which is thinner and is different than that used as Tyvek sleeves, and is probably different then that used in those overalls.

Some have additional coatings, some are a looser weave, some are further chemically treated, etc...  I don’t know the specifics but I've seen at least a half dozen different items that are Tyvek but not the same as the P.O. Envelopes.

I bought a roll of tyvek house wrap and that will last me for 5 years. I think I spent 40 bucks.

Better yet… Synthetic Filter Discs $40/100, reusable, lasts indefinitely, dishwasher safe, stores easily in your kitchen cabinet.  I got my supply at Fungi Perfecti, Paul Stamets place on the web.  Lifetime supply for $40.00.
