Behind (mini fridge) incubator
    #11334676 - 10/27/09 10:47 PM (8 years, 1 month ago)

ive been reading a lot about incubation set ups, granted everyone has access to different materials, my tek is simple and has few requirements (besides a mini fridge).

1 knocked up jars
2 a cereal box or similar container
3 mini fridge

I just simply store jars in cereal boxes behind fridge while running, press the boxes against the grate, and maintain around 82-83 deg. constantly.

again not everyone has access to using this method, but it works quite well!!!

also, i was thinking of turning the mini fridge itself into an incubator, but decided not when seeing how fast my jars colonized.

....Or, you can realize that you do not need to "incubate" at all. That room temps (70F) are all that is needed.

the best incubator tek out there is the one where you find a nice place in your home and let the jars sit... Whether its on the counter, in the cabinet or under your bed in a box. No "heater" element is needed at all.

its a tiny mini fridge so not to risky (IMO) never had a problem in years. \

my house and or my incubation room gets on the bottom end of the sixty degree range, so why not keep them happy. + wbs full colonization at around 11 days, pint jars, from multispore.

works for me but sure it isnt perfect for most.

maybe helped two people or so???
maybe not.

for years huh?? Well according to your first post EVER on this site, you've only been growing for a few months... Here's the link if you forgot >> http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/10785536#10785536

So please, lets not lie about how amazing your fire hazard of a tek is.

Anyone knows that paper/cardboard near a device that gives off heat or contains electricity is pure stupidity.

Sorry to sound like a dick, but I work with fires everyday and that shit is no joke.

when i say ive been doing this for years, i mean the person i learned this from (who lives in the same region as i do) has used it (for all incubating during colder months).  i have used it for all my grows no problem.  like i said may not be for all, but works great for me, and my instructor.

and trust me i am not going to risk a fire to incubate some jars.

Hey, I'm all for fun and games... But when it comes to life safety there is just some lines ya don't cross..

We all know there are teenagers and dumbasses on this forum who will do stupid shit when they read it. I just dont want some moron doing this, burning the house down and ruining the world around them.

That's all... But if it works for you, rock on. With all your years of experience I can only assume that you know best. Not that I have much more experience I've been doing this for about 2 years. But I just wanted to let people who read this in the future know that you yourself have 3 months experience, and 2 months ago you did not know what FAE was.

That's all, and I think I proved my point. :headbanger:

"i have more jars than will fit in a cereal box and they do just fine in a drawer in my dresser"

does your temp fluctuate 10-12 degrees a day?  if not i would, and do store at room temps.

like i said merely just a suggestion doesnt hurt to have options, does it?

When life safety is at hand, yes those options can kill. Some people don't get the severity of certain "options"

It is a fire hazard... Plain and simple. That much is common sense.
If you deny that fact then you sir deserve trich! LoL

See there you go getting all butthurt. When all I was saying that your idea = not good.

Sometimes ya gotta admit defeat. I'm not saying you have nothing to offer, so dont pout!

All is well, just think.
