Central Texas Hunting
    #11332391 - 10/27/09 05:44 PM (8 years, 1 month ago)

I was just wondering which areas around the central (Austin) Texas area provide the correct habitat for wild mushrooms to grow. I know they do all along the gulf coast, but is the climate adequate further inward, and if so where?

if it doesn't have the gulf climate, you're probably out of luck. texas is otherwise not an ideal place for mushrooms.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Me and thedman went out today and found a few cubes and meanies.  We're around the SA area so I think if you find a decent field around austin that is ideal there's no reason you shouldn't find something.  We've had more luck with meanies around here than cubes though.
