I'd like to know as well. I've got some dry straw wrapped in plastic that has been sitting around for a while now.

you might have problems but generally not, straw does not have much nutritional value to molds and bacteria and is one of the main reason for easy growing, when using it.  also you should be able to keep it for a long time (sorry I have no definite answer on time frame) if stored in a dry place away from rats and termites etc.

If the straw is properly dry before being stored in plastic it should be fine for use.

If it got wet, toss it.  Dry straw will last for several years.

how wet did it get? If its just surface wetness, move it inside a barn or garage, and get it drying. I've used pretty wet bales that grew mushrooms fine without issues.

Hi Graham, love your videos. It was left outside and it rained. RoggerRabbit says toss it? Also when pasteurizing the straw how do I strain the access water. Do I let it sit in a pillowcase or do I put it right in the poly tube and add my colonized grain? Thanks
