First Grow, PF TEK, HELP PLZ!!
    #11328810 - 10/27/09 01:50 AM (8 years, 8 months ago)

I bought 1/2 pint jars in jelly jars rather than the smaller wider jars, thinking it wouldn't be too much of a problem.  We are at 90% and above colonization in the jars, it's just taking a long time to fully colonize at the bottom of the jar.  Now, to add to the problem, I notice I have tiny little mushrooms starting to grow.  They are growing where the mycellium is the oldest and most dense, where the original inoc. spots were.  I thought I was supposed to wait one week after full colonization to birth, dunk and roll.  But since I have cakes pinning inside jars that are not fully colonized what the hell should I do? Thanks Shroomery!!

Leave em for a few days and see if the bottom gets colonized. If not, birth the cakes like you normally would, but sterilize a knife/razor and cut away at the uncolonized parts. The uncolonized parts contaminate easily.

take it out, knock off uncolonized substrate, and birth as usual.

It was the first jars I ever made.  Alot of the flour got wet and puddled at the bottom of the jars, and the MYC is having a hard time colonizing completely over the top of it.  It looks very airy, and chunky.  Is there any way to transfer PF jar to rye berries?  I have 10 lb organic rye and would like to dig in with it for a larger scale.  Thanks

I owuld birth them and cut out the chaff that is not colonized.  Definitely use a sterile blade to do so.

Your first grow is invitro?  Gongrats!

yeah prepare more sub and crumble colonized sub over/into it. you want to do this before it flushes as it gets weaker after.
