I would have to agree. Although it is pretty stupid the amount of rain forest that has diminished in the past 20 years, not that I am sad about the tree's feelings but the fresh air they provide is a good thing that may be lost soon.

Most companies replant. It's in their best interest too.

When one is emotionally attached to something, it might as well be your puppy when it dies.

But trees take a long time to grow, and these people respect their age and beauty. The death of anything living is more then enough excuse to cry.

Not when they are mowing down the rainforest for rangeland to raise cattle on. Which is one of the big reasons. So the McDonalds can keep on truckin.

But yea, LOL at those people. They aren't even hippies, just :tard:
The trees don't give a shit about your fake tears.

:crymeariver:

Trees are not 'alive' like a puppy is. These hippies are retarded and project conciousness onto trees and rocks.

I mean that lady in the vid was over the top.  But I don't see anything wrong with being sad over a dead tree.  Trees are important.

even trees and rocks probably have some sort of rudimentary consciousness

Hey, they might.  You don't know.  It all comes down to the nature of what trees and rocks are in the first place.

There is NO evidence to suggest that they have ANY conciousness at all. It is absurd to think that they 'might' based on nothing but EMOTIONALISM and stupidity like these dumb, retarded hippies.

I was half joking. We can never really know for sure IMO.

It's not emotionalism, it's based on the idea that matter = consciousness

I did feel like these people's emotions regarding the trees seemed forced and ungenuine, maybe I am just projecting that but it seems ungenuine

When you think of how the universe took shape after the big bang, it almost seems like it had it's own consciousness. However, now organic life had any fundamental role in the formation of galaxies, stars, clusters.

This was done not by anything with a brain or consciousness (unless we want to debate the existence of God, and I'm in no mood for it) but rather by Hydrogen, and the laws of physics. To me, trees, rocks, humans, all have an equal purpose, whether they are conscious or not.

Really? You probably haven't heard enough then. That idea gives a completely coherent view of the universe that's spiritually and logically consistent.  Also, it's supported by thousands of years of human thought (Buddhism, Taoism, Transcendentalism, early Christianity, etc.).  Plus, to me, it's intuitively satisfying.  We already know that matter=energy. What's the difference between the energy that constitutes our consciousness and the energy that is in rocks?  I mean yeah, it takes a little imagination and it's speculative, but to instantly discard the idea of a conscious universe is foolish imo.
