Trich after first flush.
    #11328484 - 10/27/09 12:51 AM (7 years, 11 months ago)

So I birthed a cake and fruited as a cake and I birthed a cake a cased it after crumbling it; both B+ After the first flush on the cake & the casings trich mold took over the substrate. Now, I am quite confused as to why it seems like clock work for each one. The caps were allowed to open and some spores did drop on the cake and the casing. Is it possible that the falling spores are contaminated with trich and in turn contaminate the substrate? If that is true then why would it not contaminate during germination?

After the flush was picked it looked like more mycelium was aggressively growing but I peeled the container back to find a much different situation.

Let the debate begin.

the shroom spored did not cause it

:pm: me if you have questions about lasers

Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles.

So if it showed no sign of it during fruiting and the fruits are big healthy looking fruits are they ok to digest?

i find sometimes when plucking i accidentally take chunks out of the casing which often lead to contaminates in particular trich.

The trich did not come from harvesting.. it was there at the time of harvest, today.

there are different ways to stave it off.. some say moist salt.. i say, remove the infected area. but to each his own.

you can continue to fruit it for as long as it will hold out, but you should make sure not to infect the rest of your area

Should I patch the small holes that are left after harvesting a flush?

I concur, trich is a terrible monster indeed.

I had a patch of bluing i thought was trich, i removed what i thought was the infected area and harvested the first flush.

The cake turned out to be dry and the area that i removed the sub from probably got infected after dunking, i would probably advise not trying to cut trich out, just chuck the sucker outside in some hpoo and hope rats don't eat it.

My trich could have been there all along or it could have started with my meddling. It seemed to really pick up after i cased the cake with verm post-dunking. I wouldn't advise patching also.

Just trying to give someone the benefit of my bad experience.
