Lower Adirondack end of season hunt.
    #11326773 - 10/26/09 06:44 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

We got started a lil late but had a good time all in all. Took my crazy noisy Jeep out to find some end of season mushrooms. Here is the trips finds.

Here is a photo of the waterfall from a week before.

Mock oysters, Phyllotopsis nidulans

Some Tsugae

Fall oysters, Panellus serotinus

old pholiotas?

Dead mans fingers, Xylaria polymorpha

Not sure what this lil guy is. Thats my pinky in the photo.

No ID yet.

Polyporus brumalis, winter polypore

An old Honey?

I was thinking this might be a Brick top, Naematoloma sublateritium

Havent ID'd yet.

Pinellus spp.

Oysters

Stalked cup, Helvella macropus

Scutellinia scutellata, eyelash fungus

Russula brevipes, I think..... Going off another we found later. I actually didn't check to see if it bleeds, making it a lactarius.

working on an ID. clitocybe?

Helvella crispa

No ID yet.

Need ID.

marasmius?

These were slimy as all hell. Bob and I could barely get a grasp on them. They have a slimy veil.

Mycena

Some more habitat shots. This is what the waterfall looks like now, one week later.

An unknown, semi fragile gills, didn't bleed. Didn't take to get a print.

Russula, possibly brevipes?

Amanita citrina

Here are some more photos. We had left that spot to travel up the mountain and we stopped at another trail head and found these.

Oysters, I took the log home and I am letting them grow under a tree.

Black Jelly

Here is a boulder that had a section that fell out.

Nice Oysters.  I have a log like that in my bathtub.

You knocked that chunk out of the boulder, didn't you?  Don't lie.

Some guys have no respect for nature. :nonono:

Thank you! Yeah, it was fun. But it is always a fun hunt. It's like easter egg hunting when we were kids. Always exciting and you never know what your going to find.

Here's a few shots from my angle...:smoker:

Found these growing on charcoal. Pholiota I think...

And we found this when we got back!

Lqdtrance nimbly climbed down the side of the waterfall, while I followed behind, sliding over wet pine needles and slipping across every tree root. I think the idea was that I fall to my death and Lqdtrance would pluck the wallet from my twisted carcass. Didn't work though!
It was fun as always.

Yeah, my evil plot didn't work out so well. :mad2:

Nice shots!! I like some of the angles you got better than mine.
I might have another hunt or two coming but it looks like it is gonna be a long haul through winter up here.

I liked your shots but Bob's shot of the Oysters is my favorite.
