When will humidity reach 100%?
    #11327309 - 10/26/09 10:14 PM (7 years, 11 months ago)

I just put some water drained perlite in my FC and put in my hygrometer, the hygrometer was 40 and I was wondering when will it reach 100%?
Is it 100% the optimal humidity for fruiting anyways?

1> do you have holes in your fruiting chamber for fresh air exchange?

2> did you calibrate your hygrometer? most analog hygrometers arent that reliable. calibrate it, and then check the humidity again.

3> 100% is what youd like to achieve, yes.

I have holes in my FC, I drilled lots of them

And I don't know if this hygrometer can be calibrated....
If not, is there any ways I can calibrate through other means?

72% now as we speak.

Oh, I just found out that there's this screw in the back for calibration, but how do I calibrate?

A wet towel wrapped around it for an hour is the easy way.

But, more accurate and correct way involves saltwater and a container.

Well it's at 80% now, actually I bought 2 different hygrometer today and they read the same, so I guess it's pretty accurate, that is I don't have to calibrate as of now?

yes you do..

calibration is required for all analog hygrometers.

the will read low RH well out of the box, but need to be calibrated to read high RH

Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles.

Hygrometers are accurate over a limited range. The wet salt technique is good for around 70 percent, like for cigars. The wet towel method is what you want to optimize for the 90-100 percent range. Just search posts for "hygrometer calibration".
