Don't slaughter more cows than you are able to eat. Just saying. Sustainability is key.
Dry them by separating the individual specimen as good as possible. Unlike the more meaty mushrooms, libs dry out very well just spread out on sheets of newspaper.

The aim is to have as much air flow as possible over the mushrooms to lift the moisture away from them rapidly.

If they are touching they will be slower to dry and that is when maggots start to cause damage.

Yes. They will rot very fast. They aren't plants. If you hunt fungi it is better to treat them as you would with a hunted animal (their cell walls are made of mycochitin. That's basically the same stuff that the exoskeletons of insects are made of). They will keep fresh in the refrigerator for a few days, but after that you better have them dried out or frozen. And freezing them fresh will turn them into a pile of goo, because the expanding water turning to ice will burst the mushroom cell walls. So your best bet is to dry them out until they are cracker dry and then to store them in a dry, dark and cool place.

Hope your not talking about a plastic ziplock bag, put them in a brown paper bag or keep them in an open basket something where they can be exposed to air, they will last longer and not turn to mush.

Yeaah, just keep an eye on them, as long as they are exposed to a decent amount of air (I have a dehumidifier in the same room) it won't be too big of a deal if they re slightly close, just as long as they aren't piled on top of each other or anything dumb like that.
