Gymnopilus Much?
    #11324777 - 10/26/09 04:09 PM (7 years, 11 months ago)

So my friend and I went hunting today, found some more HUGE patches of gymnopilus spectabilis.  These were actualy in a field like area, but the state had cut down tons of trees the year before and burried them, so perfect conditions. Also the last picture is a possible Panaelous Cinctulus we found growing next to the gyms. All in All about 17 wet lbs.

I Will be having pictures of the spores under a microscope coming soon.

And here is the Microscopic Picture of those pretty Laughing gyms.
Sorry for the blurry image, Camera was messing up a bit.

Notice how each spore contains little black dots inside of it. This feature is distinctive in all Gymnopilus Sp. And seperates this from Pholiota and other Look-alikes.

Nice micrograph.  Examining spores under the scope is the easy part.  Taking a decent micrograph is another ball game.  Unless you have a trinocular with a camera attachment.  I think only one of us has that, Workman.

Well the image was still blurry, i tried to reduce it as much as i could and add as much lighting, but this is how it turned out. Given time of course i could do better, but for these purposes this is all thats needed. and Thank you
