What if one day...

Meteor. Earth.
*SMACK*
done...
what then?
A horrible thought really, and perhaps somewhat cliche, but one I can't really avoid. All the sufferings, struggles, and conflicts that have ever arisen in the human race would be instantly silenced by nature's omnipotence.
We must find peace. Anger and hatred are meaningless, because all in all we amount to nothing. We must embrace our insignificance, and our togetherness in this molecule of the vast universe.

LISTEN! We will not find peace. YOU! must find peace and trying to make the rest of us do what you say is just neurotic and will cause you great suffering.

i really hate those "if" questions, they are pointless. like icelander said, find your own peace. with the way the world is running and crashing i highly doubt there will be any peace.

I have found peace. It just disappoints me that our race has built itself so far away from the simplicity of love. If people could only realize that happiness is so simple.

i am happy you found peace and all. but Rome was built of money and materials and that's it, that is there version of happiness. simplicity is another form just like materials. i think people should just leave each other alone to what makes them happy, as long as it hurts none.

There you go again deciding what is true for others. You don't really know what the truth is my friend. No one does.

If a gigantic meteor kills everyone on earth (which is what I assume you meant by "done") then it won't matter worth a damn whether we were all assholes or altruists -- we'll be fuckin' dead, end of human race, time for the age of cockroaches.

This post just reminds me about how pathetically pointless existence (including human life) is.

why worry about that? When and/if that shit happens...let it happen..I doubt that it would even happen in our lifetime, let alone a few more generations to come...I'd just accept it...find peace with that fact, why worry about which event will kill you, when in the end..its the event that kills you.

Who the fuck cares if the world will end, it's not like we're immortals. Why do some people feel obligated to make sure the world will keep going after they're dead?

What about those who don't have children and who don't intend to ever have children?
Not only that, but I have met and talked to more than good share of people who have kids or want to have kids in the future, and they sound way more scared of the idea of the entire world ending, than of the idea of only their kids dying. Please don't try to sell me crap like "think about the children" because it's not working. Any parent slightly in touch with reality is aware of the fact that their kids WILL die one day, with or without the end of humanity itself.
Personally, I think this fear of a complete extinction of the human race has more to do with fearing one's own mortality. The fact that some people also believe in reincarnation makes things even messier, because this prospect would imply their impossibility of getting a new life. Another idea that seems to be loved by some is that humans are above anything else alive on this planet and that they probably deserve immortality. Stupid self importance, nothing more.

inner peace and happiness is a state of being, how is it truth or lie?
