took my brf cakes out of the pot and noticed they were brownish yellow... still smelt fine, just looked wierd... still gonna try and grow them anyway, could they have become contaminated?

Probably metabolites or something harmless. Fully colonized cakes are pretty resistant to competitor molds.

How long did you dunk them?

they did feel a little soggy, but I'm assuming that's because they were submerged in water for 30 hours

they still hold their shape when I handle them though

and one more thing I'm worried about is one of my jars, haven't opened it yet, but there's this spot.. it's very light pinkish color that has a very thin brown border around it, all the mycellium on the outside of the edges look fine.. it's about the size of a dime... I'm hoping it's just a metabolite, I've been keeping an eye on it for about a week now, and it hasn't changed, same color, same size...

sorry I dont have a pic
