My first casing! Keepers Creepers - Pics 1st & 2nd Flush
#11322757 - 10/26/09 05:59 AM (14 years, 4 months ago) |

This was my first casing:
Strain: Keepers Creepers (P. Cubensis)
Used one fully colonized half-pint BRF.
Crumbled cake into a tray with leca in the bottom.
Cased with approx. 1 inch 50-50 verm & soil and put into incubation for 3 days.
Deep-scratched and put back into incubation for another day.
Put the tray into FC. The FC has RH 100% and temps range from 65 at night to 80 in the day.
After about 6 days I had pins forming. Alot of them!
Pins:
Day 2
Day 3
Harvest = 104 Grams wet
7 days after harvest I have second flush coming...
What do you guys think?

Yeah... it means using a fork or similar to scratch the surface and even out the casing to get an even pinset.

Those are the lightest creepers ive seen ... All my creepers i cycled and currently are dark brown-ish .... Not even close to be amber.... Pins are dark brown and caps are a shade lighter--On second thought are those really KC?!
Nice flush though...

Yeah. I got a 20cc syringe from Earths Tongue in Canada.
This was my first real flush ever so I don't know how they're supposed to be. But it looks similar to the pics on their site. Do you have any pics to share with us?
Ate them all the day I harvested it too... Nice body stone and giggely. No visuals though.

You ate over 100g wet and it was just giggly and no visuals? That's odd... Thats the equivalent of about 10g dry, right? Shouldn't you have been tripping balls??!

A nice body high does not sound like KC at all. You should have been wigging out a little harder than that . But any ways very nice grow my friend. Congrats!

Thanks!
I thought that too. It's supposed to be some of the most potent according to some growers...
Hmmm... not what I expected, but still very nice... Real mellow is how I would describe it...
In comparison, I would describe the Panaeolous Cyan. as... INTENSE!
We'll see if the potency is the same for the next flush.

Update:
Harvested the second flush yesterday. It was around 30 grams wet. Not nearly as good as the first.
The shrooms were easier to pull up from the casing due to moore vermiculite in the casing-mix.
After I had harvested I just evened out the casing and gave it a good misting untill it was glissning (near saturation).
Should I dunk it or what? I have leca under the substrate (don't really know why I did this) so I don't think it would be a problem if I just mist heavily. The excess water would just accumululate under the substrate, right?
Any input would be much appreciated!

It's really odd that you just got a body buzz and some giggles from KC strain....My experience on KC was probably the most intense in my life, i only had an eighth and I had full visuals color shifting everywhere, I even remember my friends face turning into a giant eyeball before my eyes.... here are few pics of my first KC flush ever. I am almost certain that your supplier didn't give you the right needle, I've seen a lot of KC and those don't look like them at all.

Nice pic man!
If you see the pic from my first flush, where I harvested, it looks very similar, almost exactly the same. I admit the last pics look a little off in color, but I still think it's the right strain.
Maybe I can send someone a print, and we'll find out for sure...

So you cased using verm and potting soil? No spawning? I'll have to give that a shot, it looks great. What size tray did you use?
-------------------- Did he dream about dragons? Did he dream about deer? Did he whisper he names of friends who were near? What songs did they play, and how far away? Why did he whisper, why did she scream? What does the sound of a screen door mean? Who talks on the hill? Who goes to the cellar, can you feel the chill? Where does the river, when will the wind? How far are the mountains? Where do they end? Why would the church? Did the service begin? Tell me who died, and tell me who cried. Help me hide in the skin of a deer, my zippered-up bag in the mouth of a stag so swiftly I go through rows of does, it flows, it flows, it flows, it flows all over the hill where the green grass grows.
