Epsom Salt as a desiccant? (pic now)

I read that Epsom salt could be used as a desiccant and I got some, I have it in a felt lined box about half an inch deep, with a plastic sheet over it supported by 4 rolls of foil, making a table... My new pickings are on the table the box is closed.
After 6/7 hours no apparent moisture has been sapped from the shrooms. I read that 300 degrees for 1 hour will "renew" its qualities... and that its ready to go from an unopened box...
I have no direct question, just would like input on the matter. Using it, and my use of it.

was it wet going in??
did you spread it out on a tray?
epsom melts at 392 Fahrenheit so 300 is fine..

i put about a half inch layer in a skilet and threw it in and fired up the oven to 300 on the dot, it was fresh from box
i ended up denting the pan to break the slab up and then just threw chunks into my coffee grinder
