fertilized perlite
    #11321098 - 10/25/09 08:49 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

I picked up a bag of perlite the other day without really paying attention and picked up the miracle-gro brand. The bag says on the back that it contains a small amount of fertilizer, something like .4-.1-.3 or something like that. Will this negatively affect my trays in my fc by promoting contamination? I can always go and get something different. I just want to know if its okay to use.

:pm: me if you have questions about lasers

Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles.

I have used that sort of thing before as well.  Just ‘rinse and repeat’ a few times like you do with grains

Agreed. I don't even really rinse it extra, just the usual amount to wash away dust and hydrate it.

hydrate it and use just like any other perlite, you cakes are setting on something anyway so it doesnt effect anything.

I have bags of the MG-FP and it works fine.:stoned:
