How soon is the LC ready?

I made an LC about 4-5 days ago, and I see lots of little fleks - last time, I waited until the myc had formed puff-balls before I tried to use it as inoculate. This time I've been making sure it doesn't clump up by shaking/swirling it with glass inside.

If I see lots of little tiny fleks of myc, is it fine to inoculate?

it is but depends on what your thought on lots is.  if you really do see lots then you should try it out on one jar anyways a sort of test jar

you better wait until full colonization, you will have better result. Or at least to get enough Myc in the lc to make a syringue, but good luck getting a decent amount of myc from an unfinished lc

So in other word, I should just probably wait?

How do you determine a "finihsed" LC? I mean, all I can imagine is that it lightens in color until clear as water, as the nutrients are consumed by newly producing mycellium. So when the water is clear is that the best time?

well yeah, when all the nutts are used the water should be clear. But usualy I say that my lc are done when all the water is colonized.

NOTE Psychadelicious:In the pictures the mycelium is settled and has not been agitated. Once agitated (stirred) it is nearly impossible to see through the jar.

That was very useful Satori, especially your end comment. The strange thing for me though, is that my MYC in my last LC formed big "puff balls" which floated through the water lazily. They were perfectly spherical.

I know it was myc because it grew myc when I inoculated, I had just waited way too long.

I never agitated that LC, is that what causes it to form balls? I assume you agitate yours, but that is what happens when not-solidifed myc settles?

i use as soon as i can see something. but i also let sit in the syringe for a few days to grow more

I let LC go about as long as a grain jar inoculated the same way, spores or LC to start.

Psychedelicious, yes, I agitate once a day with a good generous swirl; I also place a marble or two inside of each LC to help. Some people use stir plates. Granted they work but they are not needed, a generous swirling with your wrist and a marble will do the trick just fine.
