Cubes easier to consume/stomach than San Pedro tea?
    #11318762 - 10/25/09 04:07 PM (8 years, 27 days ago)

Hey all,

A friend who has consumed San Pedro tea several times was asking me the other day if fresh Cubes would be easier to consume, comparitively speaking?  He has never had any nausea whatsoever with SP but naturally finds it very hard to drink a strong dosage due to the horrible taste (tried to do more than 2 feet once but couldn't force any more down).  He also happens to LOVE edible mushrooms and eats them constantly, prepared in a variety of ways.

With that information, since he's never had nausea with SP would he most likely not have any with cubes?  And would someone who loves the taste of mushrooms in general be repulsed by the taste of cubes?

Thanks guys!

I've only eaten dried shrooms, but even fresh juicy ones should me much, much easier to eat than cactus. San pedro cactus is the single most bitter thing I think I have ever tasted. Mushrooms might taste a little funky, but nothing like cactus, certainly not bitter, more like stale peanuts than anything else.

I think dried mushrooms are gross to eat.  The texture and feeling of eating a old stale moldy cracker.  But NOTHING even close to SP tea.

huh. that's interesting. I've downed San Pedro Tea twice. The first time was fine really, didn't taste that bad. I even said to my friend "what is everybody whining about with this?" The second time, the smell brought back the taste so it was more difficult. But also, I had to drink more that time aswell.
When I ate shrooms, it was mixed with bacon and melted cheddar and cream cheese in a wrap. I still really didn't enjoy the twigginess of the dried stems. But the caps and stuff were fine.

Pulverise your shrooms either by hand (personal choice) or coffee grinder and through it in a cup of pudding.  Can't taste it at all.  Althought the texture is a bit clumpy.

Thanks for the replies.

As far as nausea goes, would somebody who never had any nausea whatsoever on San Pedro be pretty safe from it with cubes?

sp tastes worse than mushrooms.

mushrooms have no distinctly repulsive "flavor" to me. just taste like fresh mushrooms really. don't really eat them dry if i can help it.

neither SP nor mushrooms compares to chomping a fresh peyote. it's like eating the most bitter, spicy, apple ever. pukealicious. :crazy2:

I've never really been nauseous on mushrooms. Maybe for a moment or two. I have seen friends puke but I've never felt close to that point.

I have limited experience with san pedro, and while it made me slightly nauseous, I never got the full-on mescaline pukeys that I was expecting.

cactus tea is the single most disgusting tasting thing I have ever had in my life, and I'm no stranger to nasty brews.
I also think shrooms are gaggy, but compared to cactus, they are not tastable.

My favorite way to eat shrooms so as to avoid the taste and texture is to grind them up as small as possible and sprinkle them on a PB&J sandwich made with CRUNCHY peanut butter. But if your friend can handle san pedro tea, probably eating them raw would be a walk in the park.

I used to always do PB&J shroomwiches. But once I didn't have bread and peanut butter, and I decided to just grind the shrooms up, put some in my mouth, and swallow with a gulp of water. They sit on your tongue for a half a second and you don't taste a thing. Much better than chewing them up and getting them all stuck in your teeth...And picking the pieces out with your tongue as you start to come up. Thats sure to make you want to gag... They do not taste good, but it isn't a bitter, disgusting taste like cactus. Actually its not bitter at all. But it is kinda funky, like old moldy peanut shells or something. Taste and texture.
