Mold Shrooms? Pics.
    #11316908 - 10/25/09 06:32 AM (14 years, 5 months ago)

I had this big ass container get trich. So I poured peroxide on the affected area, then cut it out with a red hot knife. You can see it was a very large chunk.

After giving it about another week and a half, its got all these big ass shroomz growin and no sign of green mold.

Should I dunk, roll, and fruit this bad boy, or is it to risky?

If its warm enough Id fruit it outside.

The problem is that as soon as you expose trich to your grow area its contaminated. Just opening a container with trich releases thousands if not millions of sticky trich spores.

Obviously its fruiting so my advice if you want to keep fruiting it is to isolate it so that it cant ruin your grow area.

After a week if no green mold has showed up you may be good, but trich mycellium is parasitic to cube mycellium, and my understanding is because of this, the cube myc cant stop trich.

If there was green mold inside that container that means the trich was already fruiting and spores are everywhere inside it, it is unlikly that 100% of the trich and its spores were killed.

So you may be able to get more fruits from that but you need to decide if its worth risking all your grows and future grows (normally it isnt)

I think your lucky to have gotten the flush out that you did.  cutting just keeps the inevitable away for a few more days I would toss the tray.  BTW using containers like that must get you mad side pinning

Thanks for the advice. I think I will fruit it in a gallon milk jug fc. I am a little worried about contaming my condo, and messing up future grows, but that looks like a good flush on there, so I'm gonna risk it.

I go crazy with the disinfectant, so maybe It'll be ok.

Doubtful. The use of a glovebox alone eliminates almost all risks of contam.

But when your mycellium is colonized and fruiting, it's going to be exposed to open air.
When trich spores land on it, which it will if youve opened a trich containing jar in your place, they will germinate and parasite the mycellium.
Trich has evolved to destroy cube mycellium at the mycelial strand level

You want someone to tell you to fruit your trich infected cake. No one who knows what they're talking about is going to give you that advice. I'm tellling you if you want to fruit it, do so outside where it can't contaminate your grow. If you fruit that indoors, it's going to need air, that means its going to release trich into your pad.

Your best options are fruiting outdoors, making an outdoor patch with it, and tossing it.
If you fruit it indoors your extremely likely to release trich spores into your crib. Infact I would estimate it impossible that you don't.

If you see green that means the trich mold is sporulating. That means thousands or millions of trich spores were released in that jar. As soon as you opened it you released those everywhere. By pouring peroxide in your jar unless the entire thing and every milimetre of surface area was submerged I find it impossible that all the trich or trich spores were killed, meaning that the white trich mycellium will continue to grow and spread spores

Maybe, but they dont propell themselves, and I didn't sneeze in it.  I doubt they were released "everywhere"

Thanks for the advice though, ill fruit it in a separate fc. I have done thousands of cakes, and have NEVER had even 1 spot of trich growing in my fc. The fae keeps it down i think.

Dude.

When you opened a jar that contained trich spores, you released trich everywhere.

You don't think that opening a sealed jar creates a vacuum and therefore air-movement?

If you had a jar in it and you opened it, you released trich.

Once I had a jar of trich, and was going to open it up to clean it up. I slammed my fist against the side of the jar to break it up once before opening it, and instantly a cloud of solid green that light could not penetrate sprung up and filled the jar.

I would bet any amount of money that opening a jar containing trich releases enough trich spores into the immediate area to ruin a future grow

Like Ive been saying, a moderator will tell you to throw it out, no one who knows what they're doing will tell you to fruit it in your house. Your best options if you don't want to throw it out are fruit it outside or bury it outside.

If you fruit it indoors, you will contaminate your area.
Your talking about a jar infected with trich. Trich mold is white like mycellium, and has evolved to parasitically break down and feed on cube mycellium. The remaining trich will ruin your grow area
