Do these measurements sound ok?
    #11317239 - 10/25/09 11:04 AM (8 years, 1 month ago)

I got 2 qt jars of spawn that i wanna use for the bucket tek. I wanna use coir/verm/coffe/and gypsum as my substrate. ill be using a 5 gal bucket and will want my substrate depth to be around 4 inch.

question: does 1 brick coir- 1 qt verm- 1 qt coffe- and 1 cup gypsum sound ok? or do you think that would be too much/less?:mushroom2:

Sounds good to me man... Although 1 brick of coir might be a little much. Some people swear 1 brick per 2 qts... I like 1/2 brick per 2 quarts. But thats just me.

Rock On!

That's about a 5:1 sub to spawn ratio...  IF you used all the substrate mix.

But, since you are wanting a 4" depth in your bucket, I doubt you will use it all, so that will lower the ratio.

A brick of coir comes out to approx 7-8 quarts when hydrated.

If I don't use all of my substrate is there a way to preserve it or is just best to throw out any extra leftovers?
