Thanks man. I'm hoping it goes well but am somewhat worried since the jars have been at a cooler temperature for the past week. By the way the waiting game is KILLING me. I plan on creating a shotgun terrarium for the cakes and hopefully invest in a PC when i get some more money. From there I may attempt LC to make things go faster. I also found bee pollen for the next jars i nocc up.

may try to mess with an lc?  Make LC's your first step even before you inoculate any jars.  It saves so much time and money.  Are you buying vendor syringes or home made?  the cold. if thats the reason the jars are slow if it is then you just have to wait some extra time.  Shotguns are the way to go.  my first cakes took close to 2 months to colonize. Lol i had grain done before the cakes were and I started the grains some time after the cakes

Yeah I hope to nocc up some LC before my next jars. I bought a brazillian from freespores and they threw in an amazonian. Glad to hear they should be surviving through the cold, I'll set up the incubator later today.

Incubator?  most ppl think that jars do best at around 75 F no need to make one.  that info is from the tmc and is outdated

all those additives you added arent going to make any noticeable difference. dont waste your time with the bee pollen either. best thing you can add to your pf mix is a tablespoon of gypsum. brf has more nutritional value than all the things you listed. so any other shit you add is just taking up space.

Gypsum is good and easy tho with good results and if you want maybe do 50/50 coffee/water to wet the cakes down at first

they're sitting at about 65 right now. the one that has been sitting at 75-85 is colonizing much faster than the rest. Already bought the heater and two tubs so i might as well try it.

Go to the pet store, you can find a fish tank heater for cheap... put the heater into a 2 or 3 liter bottle, then put the whole thing in a cooler with your cakes... the temp will stay a constant 80 degrees give or a take few... and your cake will colonize in no time at all...

Patience is a Virtue.

Knobby is onto it for temps idea… ^^^

If you impatient or unsure of germination times for particular species/strains I find it helpful to go agar/LC that way you know its live mycelium and should be growing from a day after inoculation.

I find some strains germinate in as little as 48hrs some as long as a week so helps out in determining if its growing optimally or not ‘straight off the bat’.

EDIT:typo

Got them into a TiT setup at a constant 80. We'll see how that goes. If it seems to not work for one reason or another then i'll try the heatbomb. Trying to locate a digicam but only have the phone cam still. Thanks all. Planning on picking up some gypsum some time soon as well.

I think I got hit with bacillius. Sour smell in the incubator. Also the substrate looks somewhat darker at the innoc points. Plan on reworking my technique and using the condom tek for innoc I think next time. I'm DEAD broke and have no money for a PC, I'll probably try to steam sterilize for 90 minutes one more time and if not i'll have to wait till I can get some more cash. Any suggestions?
