In north america there is food we don't like so we don't eat it.  I like having that option.

Not having enought means you will eat just about anything.

Were are privileged to have table scraps.

Only if all of you are responsible for me being homeless.

We as in who?

I'm not personally responsible for the starving millions....they were starving before I was born. Am I contributing to more people starving? On some level yes.

We (the human race) are responsible for our starving millions because we are responsible for ourselves. And the most responsible parts of ourselves are the parts that carry more influence over the others...i.e. the global super powers.

Mmm,

We being the people who are called upon when that question is asked or raised. To be responsible is to at least answer it with an earnest "no" or "maybe".

how do you think global superpowers gain their powers?

It is because at some point, an individual decided to take their offer, give them money or votes. At some point, a person decided that their offer was the best one -for them-.

Petroleum companies are so powerful because people choose petroleum. it is cheaper, and thus people can get more for themselves by chosing petroleum and having money left over to buy other shit, like coca cola and pimple cream.

people buy cheap shit for their own benefit... they have the option of choosing more expensive stuff and choosing not to fuel global corporations who rape the masses.

The only way out of individual responsibility is by saying 'well, look, if I decide to give all my money to save the world, I will just end up poor and no one will be any better off'.

So then, the people responsible for the hurt of others are those that are chiefly concerned with "me", and "myself".

Me before everyone else. I want the best house, the nicest car, I want a job that pays me well, I want nice things to put in my house....all of this comes first.

And when we see the wars and all the tragedies that go on around the globe....most of us just say, "Oh...that is sad." And then go on with our daily lives.

This is a major question facing our world; it all boils down to whether or not we would feel good about helping starving people. Once you take rewards in an afterlife that outweigh the pains of helping others, then all is left is reward in this life....I guesse there would be some rewards...more people to have sex with, enjoy good times with, but thats ruled out because they would most likely stay in africa rich or poor.

Responsible ultimatly refers to god or a reward system in the after life. It really cannot be used in a question then without defining it...if it means were at fault, well for the most part we have little ability to choose for that not to happen, therefore, we are not the major source of the problem. If we were the source we could quickly change it all - I guesse collectively we are the source of the problem, yes, this is true...money and economics is the issue there and we have what it takes to develop africa to the extent of having them not starve from hunger in any of its parts....individually we have no responsibility to africa because I we just dont have the resources individually to do so. Rich people obviously have those resources, but I have only enough to feed myself right now...:frown:....yeah, responsibility we do collectively, individually its much to complicated and its such a horrible situation because there are many people who believe that it will change and contribute just enough to keep the problem from stoping...the exhaustion of the populations of hungry people would end that source of suffering as well, and with no effort. Also, it is very depressing to have african suffering in mind, for some reason and life in this world is fucking depressing already for the most part....so its fucking complicated and the answere is individually we do not have responsibility, collectively we do.
